Garrett, P.I., Book 10 of 14

Something changed in this book.  Our hero may have snapped from being the center of too many oddities, because we lost the noir feeling of the books.  Much of the window dressing was there, but our hero didn't seem to take things seriously.  It was just silly.  And the story centered around the arrival of several varieties of UFOs, somewhere in the intersection between the X-files, Looney Tunes, and Star Trek.  I didn't really like the turn in the world - we were pretty well established as a rough-and-tumble fantasy world, and this pretty much stood it on its head.

My least favorite in the series to date, but still very readable.  I'm just afraid that a very good series may have jumped a shark.
