Happy, ambitious, proactive Vlad is back! After several books of being pushed and pulled along by events, finally Vlad reaches a turning point and starts to fight back. A lot of fun, and a throwback to some of the early-style books that I enjoyed so much. While I think I understand why the prior books were styled as they were, and it's important to the story that they were full of mopey, depressed, on-the-run Vlad, I'm happy that we're through some of that. And now I need to buy Vallista.
