Some interesting bits, but the book didn't seem to know whether it was an economic history told with dinosaurs as the main example, or a dinosaur history written as an opinion piece.
The format was odd - more a series of lightly-supported opinion pieces, each with a 'in this chapter we will' section, and then the meat of the chapter section, which often seemed really thin with a lot of assertions and not a lot else, and then an 'as we saw' section - so, repetitive and unconvincing. It did discuss an interesting time in the US that I knew little about, so I certainly got something out of the book, but I was also pretty much a hairsbreadth away from leaving the thing unfinished through the whole read.
And it needed pictures.
