1632 - Eric Flint

Baen, 2000, 597 pages
ISBN: 978-1-4165-3281-1
Read: November 2021, age 43

First in a big messy multi-thread series with 37 or so books in several threads.  It does stand alone, however.

It's a time-travel book, where modern rah-rah Americans are transplanted into a world of muskets and cannon.  It felt kinda like a bunch of wargaming scenarios tied together with a sketched-in plotline where things come fast and easy, and the characters came off the rack.  It was fine, but I would have preferred to see this idea explored by a better writer, or at least one who took the time and pages to explore some ramifications in more detail.
