I read this in the omnibus edition - all four books in one volume.  I stopped after one - there really wasn't a story, and I hadn't expected 'All four Dying Earth novels in one volume' to be a collection of unrelated short stories and novellas.  They were fine, but I'm not really a short story kind of person, in general.  I stopped after the first book.  Maybe I'll read the rest sometime, but not as a main book - this could be a bedside book, as the stories end very quickly and wouldn't keep me up at night.
