I never quite know what I'm getting in a Haldeman book. What I didn't expect from the cover and the title, was a gold rushing story set in the late 1800's. It was good. I liked it. The 90 degree turn 3/4 through the book was reasonably telegraphed, and didn't feel cheap. It was just an odd reading experience.
