Masques was Ms. Briggs' debut novel, and it was pretty rough. Wolfsbane was an unpublished sequel that was reworked decades later, and it was much better. It was better paced, had better characterization, and generally showed a
more mature author. I got pretty tired of Masques, and set the book
aside for a couple of months as a result.
These two books together fit in with Steal the Dragon but aren't connected by anything other than setting.
