Pirate Latitudes - Michael Crichton
Harper, 2009, 419 pages
ISBN: 978-1-55468-811-1
Read: August 2019, age 41
I've been feeling for a while that this author is writing mainly for his books to be turned into movies, and, unfortunately, this one was no exception. I think it will make an excellent movie, but it was a pretty mediocre book. The writing was lazy, full of cheap shortcuts. The plot was unrelenting, which meant not much for recovery and character reaction, but did make for a quick read. The characters had no arc worth mentioning, and though the setting was interesting, the book missed as far as tension goes, since I didn't care about any of the characters.
