I think the big interest in this story was that a girl was the star of the story. But I'm not convinced that Heinlein even knew any girls. There was what felt like a bunch of /r/menwritingwomen throughout. And then Podkayne isn't even the hero of her own book. She's really a passive character, who mostly has things happen to her, instead of going and doing things herself, while her annoying pesty brother is at least trying to make things happen. Not completely terrible, but I wouldn't recommend it.
